Medicare

We're keen to get you seen! A lower-cost session can be the first step to 'get the ball rolling' in your speech therapy journey.

Eligible families can receive a Medicare rebate for (up to) 5 speech therapy sessions per year.

Although we don't bulk bill (you pay in full, then Medicare refund you part of the session cost), it does make sessions less expensive.

We can also offer shorter sessions or payment plans for families genuinely affected by financial hardship, upon review with the Director.

Still Too Pricey?

Griffith University offers significantly reduced therapy sessions. Contact your local Community Health Centre to access Child Development Services.

How do I get a Medicare Plan?

1. Visit your GP.

2. Explain your child's communication challenges.

3. Ask for a Speech Pathology Care Plan (aka Chronic Disease Management Plan, previously Enhanced Primary Care Plan) for 5 sessions.

4. The GP ultimately makes this decision and may agree or reject (it is always worth asking!)

5. GP emails us the referral to

connect@mermaidspeech.com

or bring the paperwork to your session.
